Abigel Szilagyi Biography

At just 17 years old, Abigel Szilagyi has been performing regularly as a violin soloist and chamber musician in California and across the country.

Abigel was recently selected to be one of the five winners of the prestigious 2016 VSA Young Soloist International Competition. As a result, she performed solo at the Millennium Stage of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in May of 2016, where it was also broadcasted live via the internet. Abigel is a 1st prize winner of the Joyce Welsh Nation Foundation and was invited to perform at their conference in Oklahoma in June, 2016. Being a two-time winner of the California VSA Young Soloist competition, she performed at the VSA Orange County Festival, which is annually attended by 10,000 people. Abigel was a recipient of the “Salome Chamber Orchestra Scholarship Award” at the Luzerne Music Center in the summer of 2014, where she was selected to perform a world premiere.

She has attended Center Stage Strings in Three Rivers, California as a scholarship student for three summers and plans to return once again in summer 2016.

Abigel enjoys giving back to the community by giving concerts regularly as a soloist and concert mistress of the orchestra at Lake Avenue Church in Pasadena. She has also been annually performing for the LA Philharmonic Committee for the past three years.

In 2015, Abigel has advanced to the Semifinals of the Music Center Spotlight Awards in downtown LA where she studies with Professor Danielle Belen at the Colburn School Academy. She appeared as a soloist with the Colburn Youth Orchestra in Zipper Hall as a winner of the Concerto Competition performing Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1.
